University of Phoenix has announced that Marc Booker, Ph.D., vice provost of Strategy, has developed a foundational online course focused on transfer credit and articulation for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Launched in April 2022, the course, titled “Transfer Articulation 101,” is aimed at individuals who are new to the transfer and articulation field and is available to the higher education community as well as members of AACRAO.
The Transfer Articulation 101 Online Course
The newly launched Transfer Articulation 101 course provides a basic overview of transfer credit and both explores and promotes discussion on relevant trending issues that institutions currently face. Although transfer and articulation processes vary depending on the institution, the overview that this course provides enables a thorough understanding of transfer and articulation requirements.
The course examines a variety of topics such as understanding the general guidelines and principles for transfer credit, building effective articulation partnerships, and handling credit for prior learning. Individuals who complete all course modules and who pass the final assessment are eligible for a badge that demonstrates their comprehension.
John Woods, Ph.D., provost and chief academic officer, has remarked on Booker’s contributions to University of Phoenix, noting that his skill set makes him a natural fit to have developed the new Transfer Articulation 101 online course. Woods touched upon how University of Phoenix had to adapt its transfer policy to accommodate inclusive requirements following the impact of the pandemic and with increasing student mobility. Booker’s experience contributed to informing how the University adapted its transfer process and policy.
American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers

Dr. Marc Booker’s Commitment to the Higher Education Community
Booker joined University of Phoenix in 2001 and has been continuously active in the higher education community. He served as the President of the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers in 2016 and is currently a faculty member of the Association’s Leadership Development Institute.
Since 2009, Booker has regularly featured as a speaker, contributor and subject matter expert at national and regional conferences. At these conferences, he delivers insights into a range of topics including leadership, process improvement, change management, prior learning assessment, transfer credit and articulation.
In addition to this extensive experience, Booker has contributed to several publications as a co-author for AACRAO’s Guide to Best Practices including “Articulation Agreements” in 2019. He also wrote a chapter on international admissions for the AACRAO International Guide in 2016. He was a consultant and named contributor to the 2014 Transferability of Postsecondary Credit Following Student Transfer or Co-Enrollment study. The National Center for Education Statistics in the U.S. Department of Education published this study. In 2020, he received a Hall of Fame recognition from Blackboard for his work in providing thought leadership and innovation in education.
